Digital Content Licence

This Digital Content Licence applies to digital content supplied by Digital Joinery Lab Limited, including Build packages, CAD models, drawings, BIM files, technical information, downloadable resources, training videos, software, scripts, macros, templates and associated documentation.

By purchasing, downloading, accessing or using the digital content, you agree to this licence together with our Terms & Conditions.

1. Ownership

All intellectual property rights in Digital Joinery Lab Limited digital content and original designs remain the property of Digital Joinery Lab Limited or the applicable rights holder.

Purchasing digital content grants you permission to use it in accordance with this licence. It does not transfer ownership of the content or any associated intellectual property rights to you.

2. Build Packages

Files supplied as part of a Build package may be used for:

  • Design and project development;
  • Visualisation and coordination;
  • Specification and space planning;
  • Preparation for manufacture; and
  • Manufacture of physical products for your own projects or customer projects.

Build packages may include Reference files intended for design, visualisation, specification, space planning and coordination purposes.

Reference files form part of the Build package but are not manufacturing files and must not be relied upon for manufacture unless expressly stated otherwise.

Reference files may omit manufacturing details, machining information, materials, tolerances, hardware information, construction details or other information required to reproduce the product.

Build packages also contain manufacturing drawings, specifications, technical information and other files intended to assist with manufacture.

Manufacturing information supplied as part of a Build package may be used to manufacture physical products for your own projects or customer projects in accordance with this licence.

Build files may be modified where reasonably required for permitted project or manufacturing use.

Before manufacture, customers must review the supplied information and verify all matters relevant to their particular project, including:

  • Overall dimensions;
  • Material selection and thickness;
  • Hardware compatibility;
  • Fixings;
  • Machining requirements;
  • Interfaces with surrounding construction; and
  • Site or project-specific requirements.

Build information is based on the product and specification described by Digital Joinery Lab Limited.

Changes made by the customer or a third party, including changes to dimensions, materials, geometry, hardware or manufacturing methods, are the responsibility of the person making those changes.

Any physical product manufactured by you or a third party is not manufactured, inspected or supplied by Digital Joinery Lab Limited unless it has been separately purchased from us as a Manufactured product.

Responsibility for the resulting physical product, including workmanship, materials, hardware, machining, assembly, installation and applicable product safety requirements, rests with the person or business carrying out the manufacture.

Nothing in this licence excludes any responsibility Digital Joinery Lab Limited has for the digital content supplied by us under applicable law.

3. Training Videos & Educational Content

Training videos, courses and other educational content are supplied for the purchaser's own learning and permitted internal use.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, training content must not be:

  • Copied or redistributed;
  • Uploaded to another website, platform or file-sharing service;
  • Publicly streamed, broadcast or displayed;
  • Sold, rented or sublicensed;
  • Screen-recorded or reproduced for distribution;
  • Shared with persons who have not been granted access; or
  • Used to provide or create a competing training course or training resource.

Knowledge and skills learned from the training may be applied within your own work and projects.

Training materials may not be reproduced or distributed simply because the techniques or information taught within them have been used.

Any additional user, team or business access rights stated on the relevant product page will take priority over the standard licence above.

4. Software & Digital Tools

Software supplied by Digital Joinery Lab Limited may include applications, utilities, macros, scripts, plug-ins, templates or other digital tools.

Software may be installed and used only by the purchaser or authorised users permitted by the licence stated for the relevant product.

Unless expressly permitted, you must not:

  • Redistribute or resell the software;
  • Share licence keys, activation details or protected download access;
  • Sublicense the software to another person or business;
  • Publish or upload the software for third-party download;
  • Copy or modify the software for redistribution;
  • Remove copyright, ownership or licensing information; or
  • Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the software except where such activity is expressly permitted by applicable law.

Any permitted number of users, devices, installations or business locations will be stated on the relevant product page or software licence information.

5. Software Compatibility

Software requirements and supported systems will be stated where applicable.

Digital Joinery Lab Limited cannot guarantee compatibility with every computer, operating system, third-party application, software version or hardware configuration.

Where software depends on third-party software such as SOLIDWORKS, SWOOD or another application, the customer is responsible for obtaining and maintaining any required third-party licences.

Purchase of Digital Joinery Lab Limited software does not include a licence for third-party software unless expressly stated.

6. Software Updates & Support

Any included updates, support period or maintenance services will be described with the relevant software product.

Purchase of software does not automatically include indefinite updates, upgrades or technical support unless expressly stated.

Changes made by third-party software providers, operating systems or other external services may affect compatibility.

Where required by applicable consumer law, this section does not limit any obligation Digital Joinery Lab Limited may have in relation to the digital content supplied.

7. Downloadable Resources

Templates, libraries, documents, data files, spreadsheets and other downloadable resources may be used within your own work or business where permitted by the relevant product.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, the underlying resource itself may not be resold, redistributed, published for download or incorporated into another digital product intended for resale or distribution.

8. Sharing With Others

Build package files, including Reference files and project files, may be shared with employees, contractors, manufacturers, designers or other professional parties where reasonably necessary to complete a permitted project.

Anyone receiving files on your behalf must use them only for the relevant permitted project.

This permission does not automatically apply to training videos, software or other individually licensed digital resources.

Files or content must not be supplied to another person or business for their independent use, resale or redistribution.

9. Prohibited Uses

Unless Digital Joinery Lab Limited has given prior written permission, digital content must not be:

  • Resold as standalone digital content;
  • Redistributed for general use by third parties;
  • Published or uploaded for public download;
  • Uploaded to commercial or public CAD, BIM, software or resource libraries;
  • Presented or sold as your own original digital product;
  • Used to create a competing digital product, library, course or resource substantially derived from Digital Joinery Lab Limited content; or
  • Used outside the permitted scope of the product purchased.

These restrictions also apply to substantially reproduced, converted or modified versions of the supplied content.

10. Modified Files

Digital files may be modified where permitted by the relevant product licence.

Changes made by you or a third party are made at your responsibility.

Modified files must not be represented as an original, unmodified or approved Digital Joinery Lab Limited product.

Modified versions remain subject to the restrictions contained within this licence.

11. Physical Products Manufactured From Digital Files

A Build package permits manufacturing information supplied as part of that package to be used to manufacture physical products for your own projects or customer projects in accordance with this licence.

Reference files included within a Build package must not be relied upon for manufacture unless expressly stated otherwise.

Digital Joinery Lab Limited is not the manufacturer of physical products produced by a customer or third party using our digital files.

Digital Joinery Lab Limited is not responsible for defects, damage, injury or loss arising solely from:

  • Incorrect manufacture;
  • Unsuitable materials or hardware;
  • Modifications to the supplied information;
  • Poor workmanship;
  • Incorrect machining;
  • Incorrect assembly or installation;
  • Failure to verify project or site-specific requirements; or
  • Use of the files outside their stated purpose.

Nothing in this licence excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

12. File & Content Compatibility

Digital content is supplied in the formats and specifications stated for the relevant product.

Compatibility and appearance may vary between software packages, software versions, devices and third-party applications.

Customers are responsible for ensuring they have appropriate software, hardware and technical requirements unless otherwise stated.

13. Statutory Rights

Nothing in this licence excludes or restricts statutory consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Where digital content supplied by Digital Joinery Lab Limited is faulty, not as described or otherwise does not conform to the contract, applicable statutory rights remain unaffected.

14. Licence Restrictions

This licence is granted to the original purchaser and may not be sold, transferred or sublicensed except where expressly permitted by this licence or the relevant product terms.

Digital Joinery Lab Limited reserves all rights not expressly granted under this licence.

15. Breach of Licence

A material breach of this licence may result in termination of permission to access or use the relevant digital content.

Where reasonably appropriate, we may first request that the unauthorised use is stopped or remedied.

Termination does not affect any rights or liabilities that arose before termination.

16. Governing Law

This licence is governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer, this does not remove any mandatory legal protections or rights available to you under applicable law.
